Rachel Boston graduated in Jewellery Design from Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and Design and is also a former student at the Gemological Institute of America with a diploma in Diamond Grading. In short, she knows what she’s doing. Her signature aesthetic is distinguishable by various art nouveau motifs tailored to the specific standards of contemporary high fashion. Her designs have featured intricate re-imaginings of beetles, scorpions and talismanic teeth, incorporating a variety of organic forms infused with sophistication and panache. This is bespoke jewellery with a difference, it’s shadowed with a gothic tinge and a dark twist that elicits a more extreme response. You can look forward to strong lines and motifs that intertwine the complementary realms of high fashion and magic with a rock ‘n’ roll approach. When asked about her inspiration she stated that she couldn’t resist the beautiful and the damned.
When asked by Harper Bazaar what her personal motto was, Rachel Boston responded: “‘Do the best you can until you know better, and then when you know better, do better'”. It’s a Maya Angelou quote. It makes me feel better, like I know I’ll get it right the next time.
Rachel is perhaps best known for her collection ‘RUNES’, which was inspired by the Runic alphabet, taking ancient symbology and applying the variety of different meanings to her handcrafted, 18ct gold pieces, adorned with precious stones. These timeless creations were available in a number of styles and forms, from glittering hinged diamond rings to sapphire ear cuffs, all of which possessed an understated allure. Another one of Boston’s popular collections was ‘COSMOS’. which included an array of one-of-a-kind pieces with large diamond slithers, notable for their unique inclusions and cuts. The aphorism behind these pieces was ‘beauty within imperfection’, suggesting a bold individuality seldom seen in the world of wearable art. All of her raw and original jewellery is crafted in her neat atelier, nestled in the buzzing creative hub of East London, with organic materials shipped-in from the stone cutting capital: Jaipur.
